Introducing Jem!
Hello everyone~ Willow here with another character. This guy is from a book series called The Infernal Devices, and it's about a lady and her two love interests (one being this guy here, Jem Carstairs) set in Victorian England. I have pulled him from a very spoilery time in his canon and won't go into details about that since I don't want to be an a-hole, but basically magic won't be new to him. The type, on the other hand, will.
Basically in his world demons are real, and it's his people's job to keep humanity from experiencing the nasty critters by killing them. He's part of a race called the Nephilim which are, as you might have guessed, kind of on the angelic side. They're normal humans with the blood of the angel Raziel in them, giving them special abilities like enhanced reflexes and battle prowess. They also have the ability to put Marks on themselves that burn into their skin as black tattoo-looking things that give them special enhancements like soundless footsteps, night vision, or healing. But since that stuff won't be used here, let's throw that out the window and say that if anyone see's his skin they're going to definitely notice the scarring of old runes. In fact there are going to be some on his cheeks and most definitely his neck and forearms. They should look like any old scar but in these shapes.
Enough about his world, though. Jem is a fairly quiet man and smiles easy, despite the things he's been through and seen in his life. He knows how to get over, or at the very least, accept adversity thrown his way. Jem also possesses nearly limitless patience (they're considered saintly by Tessa), if for no other reason than he grew up with a very Trying best friend that tested the limits of his patience constantly. Also, he's a man in love and has been that way for a very, very long time now. Hmm. What else? He's kind and honest, but also very private. Jem will never talk about the things he doesn't want to talk about, unless he's extremely close with someone.
tl;dr Jem is a nice guy with a complicated background and I've stuck him in Hufflepuff. He looks to be about 18-20 but he'll be a first year when term starts. Feel free to add me on plurk for plotting with either him or Gokudera~ my plurk is![[plurk.com profile]](https://plurk.com/favicon.ico)
